General hiring requirements
To be considered for employement with Emergency Ambulance, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Submit a fully completed and dated Employment Application
Be at least 18 years of age (19 years of age for positions involving driving, provided the applicant has at least three years of licensed driving experience)
Hold all required licenses, certifications, and/or permits, along with valid identification
Successfully complete an investigative consumer report (background check) and reference check
Successfully complete a post-offer medical examination (if indicated) and/or drug screening without any limitations
Successfully complete an oral interview
Submit a current DMV H-4/K-4 printout (no more than 30 days old) showing a responsible driving history and acceptable status for operating company vehicles—required for all driving positions (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, Service Porter, etc.)
Successfully complete a comprehensive, job-specific written examination, testing basic knowledge and decision-making skills (if applicable)
Complete Social Security number verification through a national database to confirm validity
Provide acceptable documentation to verify eligibility for employment in compliance with the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1986, as amended
Successfully complete a Nationwide Criminal Background Search (for all positions involving patient care or other safety-sensitive roles) to ensure the applicant is not precluded from certification or licensure under applicable provisions of the Health and Safety Code or other regulations;
Successfully complete a Fraud and Abuse Control Information Systems (FACIS®) database search, confirming the applicant is not excluded from government or healthcare contracts. FACIS® identifies sanctioned individuals through OIG, GSA, and other federal agencies, as well as disciplinary actions from licensing and certification boards in all 50 states
Positions
To apply for the EMT position, you must submit a completed Employment Application and be able to present the following documentation:
- Valid California Driver’s License (Unrestricted)
- California Ambulance Driver’s Certificate
- California EMT Certificate
- DMV H-4/K-4 3-year printout (dated within 30 days) showing an acceptable driving record per EAS’s insurance guidelines
- CPR Card (Healthcare Provider – AHA or Red Cross)
- ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700 course completion certificates
- Orange County Ambulance Driver/Attendant License
Note: Please bring all required documents if you are contacted for an examination or interview. You will not be eligible to test or interview without them.
To apply for the Paramedic position, you must submit a completed Employment Application and be able to present the following documentation:
- Valid California Driver’s License (Unrestricted)
- California Ambulance Driver’s Certificate
- California Paramedic License
- DMV H-4/K-4 3-year printout (dated within 30 days) with a clean driving record
- CPR Card (Healthcare Provider – AHA or Red Cross)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification
- ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700 course completion certificates
- Orange County IFT-ALS or 911 Paramedic Accreditation
Note: You must bring all required documentation to your interview. Additionally, paramedic applicants must meet all requirements established by the County of Orange.
To apply for the Communications Dispatcher position, you must submit a completed Employment Application and be able to present the following documentation:
- CPR Card (Healthcare Provider – AHA or Red Cross)
- One of the following:
- IAED Emergency Telecommunicator (ETC) Certificate;
- IAED Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher (AEMD) Certificate; or
- California EMT Certificate
- Typing certificate (minimum 25 words per minute)
- ICS-100 and ICS-700 course completion certificates
Note: All certifications must be presented at the time of your interview. Interviews will not be conducted without the required documentation.
